If you are looking for custom picture framing in Sydney, we at Amarisco help homeowners, artists, photographers, designers and businesses frame artwork, prints, photographs and personal pieces properly.
Every job is handled with care in our Artarmon workshop. Whether you are framing a valuable original, a limited edition print, a family photograph, a certificate or something purely sentimental, the goal is the same: make it look right, protect it properly and build it to last.
We do not take a cookie-cutter approach. The right frame depends on the piece itself, where it will hang, how much protection it needs, the value of the piece and the look you want to achieve. We guide you through the available options clearly and help you choose the right solution without overcomplicating it.

What affects the cost of custom picture framing?
There is no single fixed price for custom picture framing because the work can vary a lot from one job to the next. The main factors that affect cost are:
-
Size of the artwork
-
Frame profile and finish
-
Matting requirements
-
Type of glass or acrylic
-
UV or low-reflective glazing
-
Mounting complexity
-
Conservation or archival requirements
A simple photo frame and a large original artwork with conservation materials are completely different jobs.
As an example, an A4 certificate could cost around $120 for a simple black frame with normal glass.
Frame styles and design options
The frame changes how the work reads on the wall. A good frame should suit the piece, the room and the level of formality you want. We offer a wide range of framing styles including:
-
Classic timber profiles
-
Modern slimline frames
-
Antique frame styles with guilding
-
Statement frames for larger works
-
Deeper profiles for works that need more presence
-
Painted or stained finishes
-
Archival matboards, acid-free mounts and backing boards
-
Alterative display options including raised float, flat float and recessing
-
Repairs for existing works
Some pieces suit a minimal frame that disappears into the background. Others need more structure, contrast or depth. If you are trying to match an existing style, work within an interior design scheme or create a cleaner gallery-style finish, we can guide you through the options.
Glass and acrylic options
Choosing the right glazing matters. It affects how the work looks, how much reflection you get, how heavy the finished piece is and how well it is protected over time. We offer a range of glazing options including:
-
Standard glass
-
Low-reflective glass with 70/92/99% UV protection (Artglass)
-
Acrylic / perspex
-
Low-reflective acrylic (Lifetime Acrylic)
For some works, standard glass is perfectly fine. For others, glare reduction, location where the work is being hung, UV protection, weight or safety make a different option the better call. We will recommend the most practical choice based on the artwork, the size, where it will hang and how important long-term protection is.

Conservation framing for valuable and older works
Some jobs need more than a good-looking frame.
For valuable artworks, older pieces, sentimental items and works on paper, we offer archival and conservation-focused framing methods designed to protect the work over time. That can include acid-free materials, archival backing, conservation matboards and mounting methods that are better suited to long-term preservation.
Not every piece needs conservation framing. Some do. If the work has value, age or sentimental importance, it is worth getting that decision right from the start.
Oversized artworks and complex pieces
Large works need proper support, planning and materials.
We frame oversized prints, photographs and artworks that need more structure, better weight management or more careful glazing selection. Bigger pieces can create issues with handling, bowing and transport, so we need to plan how we frame the piece through properly.
